Description
A bird flies in front of the sun during sunset, while it enjoys the lush green scenery of the surrounding Colonel Samuel Smith Park in Etobicoke (Toronto), Ontario.
This is one of my favourite places to go if I'm looking for a quick getaway from condo life, because it's pretty close to home and offers hiking trails and scenery in the city. A former weekend getaway for Victorian Torontonians, it's named after Lieutenant Colonel Samuel Smith because the lands were part of his property in the 1800s.
A scenic hiking trail along a peninsula on Lake Ontario provides access to the waterfront, and to several rocky beaches with views of the lake or for birdwatching. A nearby yacht club provides opportunities for boat watching. The park offers a panoramic view of the city, with the iconic CN Tower visible on a clear day, as well as prime fishing spots and other outdoor activities.
