The crystal clear waters of Lake on a Mountain near Picton in Prince Edward County, Ontario glisten in the morning sun on a beautiful late summer day.
The lake is located about 62 metres above the Bay of Quinte, and is separated only by a narrow strip of land ending in a cliff. Although it's often thought to have no visible source of water, it's actually fed by at least two small streams from the surrounding higher land.
Located in a small Provincial park bearing the same name as the lake, it offers canoeing, kayaking, and swimming. There's a restaurant and lodge, plus a beautiful view over the Bay of Quinte and the ferry across it to Adolphustown.
